Michael Ristich is the Director of the Citizen Scholars Program in the College of Arts and Letters. He is also a faculty member in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures (WRaC). In addition to teaching the Citizen Scholars course called “AL 270: Creating Meaningful Impact,” he teaches courses on rhetoric and leadership, writing as inquiry, rhetorical theory, and the history of rhetoric. As the Director of the Citizen Scholars Program, he works to provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for students to investigate how an education in the arts and humanities can contribute to the common good.

Tshepang Mashilone

Tshepang Mashiloane is one of the Graduate Assistant Directors in the Citizen Scholars program. She is a third year PhD student in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures (WRaC). Her research in rhetoric focuses on mentorship, leadership and higher education administration. When she is not in her academic cave, she enjoys listening to audiobooks, traveling, trying out new food and taking walks along East Lansing park trails.

Julia Vogt

Julia Vogt is a co-director graduate assistant in the Citizen Scholars Program. She is a first-year graduate student in the Arts, Cultural Management, and Museum Studies program, and is looking forward to extending her studies beyond her department. Her background and graduate work reflect passions in preserving local history and sharing lesser-known stories. Julia is an informative sign and education brochure enthusiast, and enjoys long walks through historic neighborhoods and cemeteries. When not outside, you can find Julia in the kitchen making elaborate recipes found on Pinterest. Julia is excited to be serving on the Citizen Scholars team for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
